Providence has unveiled the recipients of the 21st annual 40 Under Forty Awards program, recognizing the contributions of forty outstanding young professionals from various sectors. These honorees were selected for their significant career achievements and active involvement in their communities.

The awards celebrate individuals from diverse fields including nonprofit organizations, education, pharmaceuticals, legal services, construction, manufacturing, finance, government, hospitality, and health care. The awards ceremony is set to be held on July 17 at Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, starting at 5:30 p.m. Registration for the event can be completed at PBN.com.

A special section highlighting each honoree will be featured in the July 18-31 print and digital editions of the publication, offering detailed profiles of the finalists and their accomplishments.

Event Sponsors and Purpose

This prestigious event is made possible through the support of its sponsors, with Centreville Bank serving as the presenting sponsor and United Way of Rhode Island Inc. joining as the partner sponsor. The primary goal of the awards program is to honor trailblazers, innovators, and leaders who positively impact their communities and industries.

Recognition of Career Achievements

The 2025 awards recognize several professionals for specific accolades. Among them, Karen G. DelPonte, a partner at Cameron & Mittleman, was honored with the Career Achievement Award. Hilina D. Ajakaiye received the Outstanding Mentor Award for her influential role in guiding others through the R.I.S.E. Women’s Conference.

The program also aims to shed light on “Women to Watch” from various industries including creative services, education, financial services, and health care, further promoting the achievements of women in the workforce. The event encourages networking among attendees, highlighting their accomplishments and fostering connections within the business community.

Upcoming Events

An inspiring Business Women Awards Luncheon is scheduled for May 22, 2025. During this event, the contributions of selected honorees will be celebrated, and they will be featured in a Special Section distributed at the related event. This provides an additional platform to recognize the impact these professionals have on their respective fields and communities.

Future Participation

Those interested in participating in the forthcoming awards have until June 18 to submit their applications for the 2026 40 Under Forty Awards. This offers an opportunity for new candidates to be recognized in future editions of the program.

Challenges in Rhode Island’s Healthcare System

As Providence honors its young professionals, the healthcare sector in Rhode Island is experiencing significant challenges that affect patients, providers, and hospitals statewide. Addressing these challenges is vital for the ongoing improvement of services and support within the community.

In related news, a medical office building located at 825 North Main St. was recently sold for $7.9 million. This facility, which encompasses 21,000 square feet and includes tenants in the health care sector, features two levels of parking. Notably, the property was previously valued at $2.57 million by city assessors, highlighting the growing interest and investment in healthcare real estate in the area. The building was sold by Beacon Realty Co. LLC to EGMP 825 N Main LLC, managed by Charles Hornberger.

The convergence of celebrating young leaders while addressing systemic challenges illustrates the dynamic nature of Providence’s business landscape, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and innovation.
