Operating since 2019, the club’s focus is on engagement with the community’s palate, showcasing Rhode Island’s culinary creativity.

Providence, Rhode Island – Wright’s Creamery has officially launched its “Wicked R.I.” Test Batch Club, inviting Rhode Islanders to taste and evaluate unique ice cream flavors that celebrate local culture and landmarks. The creamery, located at 10 Sims Avenue in Providence, opened its doors on October 8th and is a part of Wright’s Dairy Farm, which has been serving the community for over 100 years.

The Test Batch Club, running from January to March each year, offers members a chance to experience Rhody-themed flavors every week. Each member will receive a different flavor to taste and provide feedback on through surveys, which will inform Wright’s decision on which flavors will become part of their regular lineup. The club began in 2019 with only 50 members and has seen impressive growth, now boasting around 1,500 members.

This year’s club theme, “Wicked R.I.,” draws inspiration from beloved Rhode Island landmarks and cultural elements, resulting in innovative tastes. Some of the unique flavors being tested this season include:

  • Ocean State: Salted graham cracker ice cream with white chocolate curls and swirls of blue.
  • WaterFire: Cinnamon-spiced chocolate ice cream with candied ginger.
  • Rhode Island Red: Cream cheese and red velvet ice cream with chocolate curls.
  • T.F. Green Airport: An airline snack flavor featuring pretzels and marshmallow fluff.
  • Big Blue Bug: Blue vanilla ice cream mixed with Nestle’s Buncha Crunch pieces.
  • Rustic Drive-In: Salted popcorn ice cream.
  • Rhode Work: Malted-chocolate ice cream loaded with chopped Whopper candies.
  • Blount Clam Shack: Light coffee ice cream combined with crushed golden Oreos and mini-marshmallows.
  • Johnston Landfill: Grape-Nuts ice cream with raisins.
  • Roger Williams Botanical Center: Lavender-infused ice cream topped with edible flower petals.

Previously successful flavors such as Tractor Tracks have made it into Wright’s regular offerings, showcasing the community’s influence on the creamery’s product selections. Notably, the Blount Clam Shack flavor will be available for sale at the original clam shack location in Warren this upcoming summer.

Designed to be an engaging experience, the ice cream-making process is visible to guests at Wright’s Creamery on weekends, allowing visitors to witness the production of these unique flavors firsthand. The creamery operates from Wednesday to Friday from 1 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Looking ahead, Wright’s Creamery has announced that next year’s Test Batch Club will focus on a “Music” theme, promising to deliver a diverse array of flavors inspired by musical elements and genres. With its innovative approach to ice cream and strong commitment to local culture, Wright’s Creamery aims to remain a beloved spot for Rhode Islanders of all ages.
