BALTIMORE, Md. — Two of the NFL’s most important quarterbacks enter the weekend as genuine question marks. Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield were both listed as questionable on Friday’s final Week 7 injury reports.
Jackson has sat out two straight games with what he described as a high ankle sprain, with Tyler Huntley starting in his place. He practiced on a limited basis all week and said after Friday’s session that he feels he is trending the right way, adding that the swelling is mostly gone and the decision will come down to how much pain he can handle while moving the way he normally does.
The stakes are high. The Ravens, 4-2, host Cincinnati at 1 p.m. Eastern in a division game, and they are tied atop the AFC North with Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Before getting hurt, Jackson was completing a career-best 70.8 percent of his throws, with 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception in four games. Baltimore is 7-12 without him since he became the starter in 2018.
In Tampa Bay, Mayfield is trying to come back from a right thumb injury that has kept him out of three games and off the field since Sept. 27. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels has run the offense in his absence. The Buccaneers host Carolina but will be without receiver Emeka Egbuka, tackle Luke Goedeke and safety Antoine Winfield Jr.
Elsewhere, Seattle ruled out running back Zach Charbonnet with a knee injury for its game against Kansas City, and quarterback Drew Lock is questionable with a right elbow issue. The Chiefs will be missing running back Brashard Smith and receiver Rashee Rice, while Patrick Mahomes practiced fully all week.
Unbeaten San Francisco is again shorthanded, with receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel and defensive end Nick Bosa all out for its matchup with Atlanta.
