Greenville, Ohio – Charlotte “Ma” Kitten, a beloved member of the Greenville community, passed away at the age of 95 on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Trustwell Living at Oakley Place. She was a cherished friend, an active church member, and a committed volunteer, known for her vibrant personality and unwavering kindness.
Charlotte was born on July 7, 1930, to George and Edna (Krogh) Neese. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many in her community. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Marie Kitten, and is survived by close friends including Mike James, Doug James, Lori (Brad) Stone, and their dog Faith, as well as Todd Bailey and friends from East Zion Church and Oakley Place.
As a devoted member of East Zion Church, Charlotte played an active role in the music and worship services. She especially enjoyed singing, often accompanied on the piano by her friend Lori. Her love for community service extended beyond the church, as she also drove a bus for Anthony Wayne Schools for many years, which allowed her to connect with children and families throughout the area.
Charlotte developed a passion for truck driving, managing her own semi-truck, which reflected her adventurous spirit. In addition, she worked for SCOPE, delivering meals to those in need in Darke and Preble counties, eventually taking on the role of manager. Alongside her daughter, she also ran a lawn care business that served many in the community.
In her later years, Charlotte pursued an interest in flying, expressing a desire to fly with Todd in his plane, showcasing her fearless nature and love for new experiences. Charlotte was widely recognized for her sense of humor; it was a common occurrence for her to announce her entrance into a room with “Here Comes The Judge!” which elicited smiles and laughter from everyone around her.
Charlotte received outstanding care at Oakley Place and Everheart Hospice, and her family and friends have expressed deep appreciation for the services provided to her in her final moments. A memorial service in her honor is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Oakley Place. The service will be officiated by Pastor Paul Calvert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Charlotte’s memory to Everheart Hospice or The Darke County Humane Society, organizations that reflect her compassionate character and dedication to helping others.
