A prominent figure in his community, Moniz’s legacy will be remembered by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.

Born on October 14, 1951, in East Providence, RI, to the late Joseph and Mary Theresa (Taveira) Moniz, Bob was a devoted husband to Suzanne J. (Cote) Moniz and a proud father to two daughters, Stephanie Allen and her husband Ryan of Lee, NH, and Katie Moniz and her fiancé Kyle Gorham of Middleboro, MA. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Caroline and Nathan Allen, and he is survived by his siblings Joseph Moniz and Mary Porto, both residing in East Providence. Bob’s family also includes his beloved dog Sherlock, who was a constant companion.

Bob Moniz dedicated over 35 years of service to the State of Rhode Island, eventually becoming the Chief Electrical Inspector for the Department of Transportation. His expertise extended to the management of St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Wakefield, RI. A longtime resident of Exeter, Bob moved from North Kingstown over 26 years ago and was an active parishioner at St. Francis De Sales Church in North Kingstown. His commitment to his faith and community was notable, reflected in his many contributions.

Community Involvement

As a proud 47-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Bob served as Grand Knight for three years and received the prestigious Knight of the Year award in 2020. He contributed significantly as a District Deputy and chaired the Keep the Heat on Campaign. Additionally, he initiated the Teens are Dynamite program aimed at youth ministries, demonstrating his commitment to fostering a strong community.

Moniz was also a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, highlighting his dedication to both his faith and civic engagement. For over four decades, he lent his voice to the Gregorian Choir at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, and was known for his musical talents, including playing the clarinet in the Holy Rosary Band and singing with the URI Chorus.

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Bob enjoyed numerous hobbies, including serving as a board member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, maintaining his yard, collecting trains, and sharing his joy of music, particularly Elvis songs. His passion for travel, especially vacationing in Maine, and fishing were significant aspects of his life, demonstrating his love for the outdoors.

Funeral Arrangements

Bobs’ funeral service is scheduled for October 4, 2025, starting at 9:30 am at Rebello Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in South Kingstown, RI. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in Bob’s memory.

Bob Moniz is remembered as a loving, faith-filled, and passionate individual whose legacy is one of love, faith, and inspiration. His contributions to the community and devotion to family will leave a lasting impact on all who knew him.
