Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ellen was the daughter of Goldie and Nathan Katz. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and continued her education at Arcadia University. Later, Ellen obtained a Master of Social Work degree from Boston College.

Her professional career included teaching elementary school in Ponce, Puerto Rico, during her husband Ken Steingold’s military service there. Ellen and Ken were married for 68 years, and together they raised their son Neal and welcomed daughter-in-law Linda and grandchildren Sarah and Benjamin into their family. In her later years, she worked with the Jewish Family Service, where she notably assisted Russian Jewish immigrants and supported the agency’s adoption program.

Ellen enjoyed her retirement surrounded by family and friends, often spending summers in Narragansett. A funeral service is scheduled for October 24, 2025, at Temple Beth El in Providence. Those wishing to honor Ellen’s memory can make donations to the Kenneth ‘52 and Ellen Steingold Endowed Scholarship Fund at Clark University or to other favorite charities.

Edward Arthur Langlais

Edward Arthur Langlais passed away on October 19, 2025, at the age of 62 after a brief illness. He lived in Bellingham, Massachusetts, and was born on July 2, 1963. Edward is survived by his father, Arthur Rosario Langlais, his former wife Helena Chmielinski, his children Brittany Marie Langlais and Scott Edward Langlais, granddaughter Naomi Matos, and siblings Diane Quintanar, Gerard Langlais, and Sandra Kister. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Marie Langlais, and daughter Erica Rose Langlais.

As a respected business owner, Edward founded and operated a local auto sales and repair business. He attended Bishop Hendricken High School, where he earned the nickname “Rocky (Balboa)” through his involvement in CYO basketball coverage. A passionate sports enthusiast, Edward was particularly fond of football and the New England Patriots. He shared meaningful experiences with partner Kathy McCarthy.

Visitation for Edward will be held on October 23, 2025, at Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on October 24, 2025, at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in North Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to benefit the RISPCA Animal Rescue.

Louise DiScuillo

Louise DiScuillo died on October 18, 2025, at the age of 80, peacefully surrounded by her devoted family. Known for being a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Louise was celebrated for her ability to light up a room with her love, laughter, and warmth.
