Providence – BankNewport announced the appointment of Julio Jimenez as the vice president and branch manager of its South Angell Street branch in Providence. Jimenez, who has been with BankNewport for just two months, will oversee branch operations, enhance customer experience, and focus on team development.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Jimenez has been a resident of Providence since 2002 and comes with six years of experience in the financial services industry. His banking career began at Citizens Bank in 2012, where he gained foundational skills in banking. Prior to his current role, he served as a branch manager at Santander Bank located on Atwells Avenue, and he also held a branch manager position with Citizens Bank in Pawtucket. At Citizens Bank, Jimenez concentrated on improving sales performance and operational efficiency.

In addition to Jimenez’s appointment, Diana Figueroa has also been named as the vice president and community lending officer at BankNewport. Figueroa will play a vital role in aiding individuals from underserved or low-to-moderate income communities to access affordable home loans. Her responsibilities include guiding clients through the mortgage process and fostering relationships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations to ensure equitable lending practices.

Figueroa brings over 20 years of experience in mortgage lending and community outreach to her new position. Most recently, she worked as a mortgage loan officer at Washington Trust in Warwick, Rhode Island, and has previously held a position at Shamrock Home Loans in Rumford, Rhode Island. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and is also a resident of Providence.

The appointments of Jimenez and Figueroa reflect BankNewport’s commitment to community engagement and financial accessibility. With their experience, both are expected to contribute significantly to enhancing services offered at the Providence location. Jimenez’s leadership will aim to improve customer satisfaction and staff training, while Figueroa’s focus on community lending will ensure that more individuals can secure financing for their homes.

BankNewport, which is headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island, has a strong presence in the local community and is dedicated to supporting its residents through various banking services. By enhancing its leadership team, the bank aims to continue its growth and improve the overall banking experience for its customers.

Both Jimenez and Figueroa are set to bring their knowledge, skills, and community-focused approach to their roles at BankNewport, reinforcing the institution’s mission of providing excellent service and responsive financial solutions to all clients.
