He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School and furthered his education at the Rhode Island School of Design and Johnson & Wales University. David excelled as an architect and project manager, significantly contributing to the development of the Johnson & Wales University campus and leading major projects at Cushman & Wakefield, including the Citizens Bank headquarters located in Johnston, Rhode Island.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, David was deeply committed to his community. He devoted his time to coaching youth sports for his sons and volunteered for various local initiatives. An active blood donor, he made it a priority to support philanthropic endeavors, including a noteworthy 14-year tenure as a board member of Caritas Smile, which aids communities in need both locally and in the Dominican Republic.

David is survived by his partner, Sixcia Devine, and her son, John Daniel Devine. He is also mourned by his son, Nicholas A. Varone, and the late Michael T. Varone. His mother, Janice (Pezzullo) Varone, along with his late father, Richard T. Varone, three sisters—Allison Johnson, Kristen Sorensen (spouse: David Sorensen), and Tracey MacEachern (spouse: David MacEachern)—as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, also survive him.

Visitation and Service Information
Visitation services for David Varone will be held on September 9, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Nardolillo Funeral Home in Cranston, Rhode Island. A mass honoring his life will take place on September 10, 2025, at 10 AM at Holy Apostles Church, also in Cranston. Following the service, burial will occur at St. Ann Cemetery, located in Cranston, RI.
