Another notable presentation came from Zoe-Anna Rudolph-Larrea with “When Will This All Be History,” which effectively utilized thrifted items to illustrate the transition from childhood to adulthood in fashion. Meanwhile, Chloe Chow showcased her “Metagalactic” collection, drawing inspiration from celestial objects and using materials like white canvas and plasma-cut metal to symbolize protective shields.
The “Playing House” collection, crafted by Oscar Tengen and Rusudan Dushuashvili, adopted a dystopian theme, incorporating armor-like garments intended to shield wearers from societal threats. Buzzy Martin’s “Hiraeth” collection featured rich fabrics and nontraditional silhouettes, reflecting a futuristic grunge aesthetic influenced by the personal narrative tied to their namesake astronaut. Finally, Alec Del Prado Lippman’s “Mutt” embraced gothic and grunge styles, culminating in a striking finale with a model in a binding gown and sky-high heels.
The finale showcased all collections cohesively, celebrating the creativity and dedication of the student designers.
