Born on December 2, 1962, in Providence, Jennings was the beloved son of Rosemary (Monteiro) Gomes and the late Dr. Lummer Jennings, Jr. Ed. D.. He was raised in Providence and graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School in 1982 before furthering his education at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Brian Jennings was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Citizens Bank, where he was known for his professionalism and integrity. Outside of work, he had a strong passion for music, performing as a DJ under the stage name DJ B Smooth. His love for music was complemented by his enthusiasm for various activities; he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, and attending Jazz Festivals.
A dedicated member of his community, Jennings was actively involved in The Holy Name of Jesus Church Gospel Choir and previously a member of The Cape Verdean Progressive Center. He was widely recognized for his gentle nature and patience, and many have described him as a true gentleman who touched lives around him.
He is survived by his mother, two brothers (Kevin M. Jennings of Pawtucket and Gary T. Jennings of Providence), two aunts (Beverly Monteiro of Cranston and Janice Garrett of Fayetteville, GA), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
In honor of Brian Jennings, a funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2025, starting from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at The Holy Name of Jesus Church at noon, with burial taking place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. Prior to the funeral, visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial gifts be made to HopeHealth Hospice in Providence, RI, honoring Jennings’ compassionate spirit and commitment to community service.
