Cranston police have arrested two suspects following a daylight shooting that targeted a gang-affiliated individual at Garden City Center. Both suspects, 21 and 31, are charged with multiple felonies and were apprehended after attempting to flee the scene. Cranston police apprehended two suspects, 21-year-old Andres Pizarro and 31-year-old Andre Ross, following a brazen shooting incident on July 9 at Garden City Center. The pair was charged with multiple felonies after they allegedly fired five shots at a male patron affiliated with gang activity near a Verizon store in the busy shopping complex during late morning hours.
The shooting occurred around 11:46 a.m., targeting a resident of Brockton, Massachusetts, who managed to escape into the Verizon store for refuge as the assailant pursued him. Fortunately, no bystanders were injured during this alarming incident, which happened in broad daylight amidst busy shopping activity.
Witnesses to the incident included a retired Rhode Island State Police lieutenant and security personnel from Garden City Center, who observed the aftermath of the shooting. The police were responding to a separate standoff in the Edgewood neighborhood when they were alerted to the gunfire. Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing the suspects firing shots and fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
After fleeing the scene, Pizarro and Ross led police on a pursuit that extended onto Interstate 95, eventually bringing authorities to the parking garage of the Providence Place mall. Police recovered a .25 caliber handgun, which is believed to have been used in the shooting, from the suspects at the time of their arrest.
