Cranston – A series of traffic incidents occurred in Cranston over the weekend, culminating in a tragic fatality in nearby Trumbull, Connecticut. The Cranston Police Department was actively responding to multiple accidents, highlighting concerns over road safety in the area.

Early on Monday morning, just before 7:00 a.m., a head-on collision took place at the intersection of Park Avenue and Reservoir Avenue. Following the accident, one of the vehicles involved rolled onto its side. Although an NBC 10 news crew reported visible damage to the front ends of both vehicles, it was confirmed that only minor injuries were sustained by those involved in the crash.

Earlier in the weekend, on Friday around 4 p.m., a separate incident involving a 13-year-old boy occurred on South Clarendon Street. The boy, riding a moped, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a vehicle on Laurens Street. He sustained injuries to his wrist and leg and was subsequently transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the young rider received a citation for motor vehicle violations connected to the crash. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported for the driver of the vehicle he collided with.

Additionally, an 18-year-old man from Cumberland, Rhode Island, lost his life in a tragic crash late Friday night in Trumbull, Connecticut. The crash involved a BMW X5 that sideswiped a BMW X1 on Route 25 South, near exit 9, around 11 p.m. Following the collision, the BMW X5 spun out of control, rolled over, and struck several trees. The deceased was identified as Timothy Campbell, who was a rear-seat passenger in the BMW X5. The driver and two other passengers in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated. No injuries were reported from the occupants of the BMW X1. As a result of the crash, Route 25 South was closed for several hours as officials conducted an investigation, with the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad involved in examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are encouraging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have regarding the collision.

In addition to these incidents, Cranston police have also initiated a criminal investigation into a fatal crash on Pippin Orchard Road. Details surrounding this particular crash remain limited, including the identity of the victim, which has not yet been disclosed. The cause of this latest accident is still unclear, and further information will be released by officials as it becomes available.

The recent series of accidents underlines the importance of road safety and the need for cautious driving practices, particularly at intersections and during high-traffic hours. Authorities continue to stress the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and remaining aware of surroundings to prevent future incidents.
