David Byrne announces his upcoming North American tour in support of the new album 'Who Is the Sky?'
David Byrne will embark on a North American tour starting September 2025, promoting his upcoming album ‘Who Is the Sky?’ featuring collaborations with various artists. The tour will kick off in Providence and will last until December, with ticket sales beginning June 2025. The album, produced by Kid Harpoon, reflects the human experience in New York City and is poised to capture the essence of urban life through music.
Providence, Rhode Island – David Byrne is set to embark on a North American tour starting September 14, 2025, in support of his upcoming album “Who Is the Sky?”, which will be released on September 5, 2025. This marks Byrne’s first album since the critically acclaimed “American Utopia”, released in 2018.
The new album will be brought to the public under Matador Records and produced by the Grammy Award-winning Kid Harpoon, known for his work with major artists including Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus. The album features a diverse range of collaborations, including contributions from St. Vincent, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and Tom Skinner from The Smile.
Byrne’s lead single from the album, titled “Everybody Laughs,” is already generating excitement, backed by an official music video directed by Gabriel Barcia-Colombo. The album consists of 12 tracks, all of which have been arranged by Ghost Train Orchestra, a New York-based chamber ensemble. Byrne has described the themes within the album as reflective of the human experience in New York City.
The North American tour will launch at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence and encompass a total of 43 dates across various cities, including noticeable locations like Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, and Chicago. The tour will extend until December 6, 2025, when it concludes in Miami, Florida.
Ticket sales for Byrne’s tour will begin on June 13, 2025. A presale period for artists is scheduled to run from June 10 through June 12, 2025, offering fans the opportunity to secure their tickets early. Select ticket packages will also be available, featuring perks such as premium seating and signed memorabilia.
In early 2026, following the North American leg, the tour will reach Australia and New Zealand, commencing on January 14, and will continue to Europe and the United Kingdom starting in February.
