Born in Providence, RI, John was the son of the late John and Alice (McHugh) Dodge. He spent his childhood in Cranston and received his education at LaSalle Academy before graduating from Providence College in 1951. His life was characterized by commitment to both his community and his country, marked by a tour of duty in Tokyo, Japan, while serving in the Army.

For over three decades, John made a significant impact at Zambarano Hospital in Burrillville, where he worked in the laboratory until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, John enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Alice, and dedicated his time to volunteering. He was an active member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and contributed to Meals on Wheels, reflecting his dedication to helping others in his community.

John’s connection to his faith was evident through his long-term membership at St. Agatha’s Parish, which he attended since the early 1960s. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice, whom he was married to for 56 years. John is survived by his daughter, Mary, and her husband, Joe, who remain grateful for the support and compassion shown to John by the staff at St. Antoine’s Residence during his final days.

Funeral services for John will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Agatha’s Church, located at 34 Joffre Avenue in Woonsocket, RI. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment will be private, respecting the family’s wishes for privacy during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in John’s memory be made to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank or St. Antoine’s Residence.
