Joseph is survived by one daughter, Paula Prete, and her husband Jeff, both of Pascoag. He is also survived by two sons, Joseph N. Inger III of Pascoag and John Inger of Woonsocket. Additionally, he leaves behind two granddaughters, Kaylee Cabral and Karissa Prete, along with three great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Prete, Matthew Cabral Jr., and Kason Cabral.

Joseph’s life spanned many years and contributions to his community. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, to Joseph and Evelyn (Briggs) Inger and spent parts of his early life in Pascoag and Cumberland before making East Providence his home for the past 32 years. Joseph carved out a fulfilling career as an office technician for NYNEX, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1991.

A significant part of Joseph’s life was his involvement in masonry. He was a master mason for an impressive 66 years and held membership with Granite Lodge #26 F.&A.M.. Additionally, he was affiliated with Friendship Lodge #7, F.&A.M. in Chepachet, where he was honored with a 60-year medal in 2019, recognizing his long-standing commitment to the craft.

Joseph’s funeral and burial will take place privately at Acotes Hill Cemetery in Chepachet. His family has chosen to omit visiting hours during this time of grief. In lieu of flowers, they encourage friends and community members to make contributions in his memory to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence, Rhode Island, to honor the compassionate care he received in his final days.
