Stephen R. Babigian Sr.
Stephen R. Babigian Sr., aged 76, passed away on September 3, 2025, in his hometown of Saunderstown, RI. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Olson), as well as his two sons, Stephen Babigian Jr. and Robert Babigian, along with their spouses. Stephen was notable for his involvement in the community and his supportive family life.
Visiting hours for Stephen will be held on Friday, September 12, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, located at 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. Following the visitation, a Memorial Service will take place at the same location. Friends and family are encouraged to express their condolences and share memories. Marilyn Townsend Smith
Marilyn Townsend Smith, a long-time resident of Saunderstown for 45 years, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Born on November 16, 1932, in Brockton, MA, she was the beloved wife of the late George Townsend Smith, a retired captain in the U.S. Navy. Together, they lived a dynamic life, marked by frequent relocations along the eastern seaboard due to military assignments, with time spent in California and Italy.
Marilyn, a graduate of Williams Memorial Institute, married George on June 30, 1951, and built their home in Saunderstown in 1975 after he began teaching at Narragansett High School. An active member of various local organizations including the Newport Navy Choristers and the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marilyn had a passion for music, gardening, American history, and genealogy.
She is survived by three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family has expressed heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Watson Fields, Dover, NH, for their support during her final days. A private celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held by her family, with interment at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
Daniel P. Leamy
Daniel P. Leamy, who was 77 years old, passed away on December 25, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. He proudly served as a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War, earning two Bronze Star Medals and a Purple Heart for his service. Born on June 21, 1947, in Providence to Richard and Mary Madeline (Kiley) Leamy, he enjoyed a long career as a machinist for Gorham Manufacturing before retiring in 2005.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Maryte (Navakauskas) Leamy, his two daughters, and grandchildren. In addition to his family, he is remembered by several siblings, and he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Mayes. Funeral services for Daniel are scheduled for Friday, January 3, 2025, beginning at 8:45 AM from Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Rose and Clement Church. He will be laid to rest at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Calling hours are planned for January 2, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Daniel’s name may be made to the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home.
