Providence College is entering the game with an overall record of 22-25 and an 11-10 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars have just come off a successful week, boasting a 4-1 record from five games. Key victories included wins over Stonehill, Bryant, and a doubleheader sweep against Tarleton State on April 25. This positive momentum will be crucial as they face off against a strong Brown team.

Leading the offensive charge for Providence is junior Elisa Smith, who has an impressive batting average of .386 and has recorded 56 hits and 36 runs this season, in addition to a .467 on-base percentage. Sophomore Cameron Dunn has also made significant contributions with a batting average of .359, a slugging percentage of .625, and 35 RBI along with eight home runs under her belt.

In the past five games, Smith has tallied a total of five RBI. Junior Julia Renny and sophomore Emma Eichten each played vital roles in the recent successes of the team by contributing three RBI and two runs each during the week. Renny notably hit two home runs, achieving a slugging percentage of 2.250, while Eichten contributed one home run and managed a slugging percentage of 1.167.

The pitching staff for Providence is led by graduate student Tori Grifone, who holds a season ERA of 3.47 and an overall record of 10-8. Grifone has struck out 62 batters over 105 innings pitched. Last week, she achieved a 2-0 record with an impressive 1.27 ERA over 11 innings while holding opponents to a mere .132 batting average.

On the opposing side, Brown University arrives for the game with a notable overall record of 28-13 and a 12-6 mark in Ivy League play. The Bears have been on a hot streak recently, completing a three-game sweep over Yale, signaling their strong competitive edge going into the game against Providence.

Highlighted among the Bears’ roster is senior Laurel Moody. She leads her team in several offensive categories including hits (53), home runs (14), and RBI (38). Moody has also recorded an impressive batting average of .445 along with a slugging percentage of .874 and on-base percentage of .546. Brown’s pitching ace is senior Alexis Guevara, who has achieved a record of 15-6 this season with a stellar ERA of 1.65. Guevara is notable for being the program’s all-time strikeout leader, having amassed a remarkable 388 strikeouts throughout her career.

Following their game against Brown, the Friars will conclude their regular season with a three-game BIG EAST series against Villanova starting on May 2. This series will be available for streaming on FloCollege, providing fans another opportunity to support their team as they close out the season.
