Celebrating diversity and inclusion at the Providence Fringe Fest.
The 12th Annual Fringe Fest in Providence celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community and marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. With over 400 performances and new venues, the festival promotes accessibility and inclusion, showcasing local artists across various mediums. The 12th annual Fringe Fest took place on Saturday in Providence, Rhode Island, focusing on the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups. This year’s festival coincided with the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusion.
As part of the festivities, the 5th Annual R.A.M.P. Accessibility is Beautiful Festival celebrated the ADA’s legacy. The event, part of the larger 12th Annual FringePVD Providence Fringe Festival, showcased over 400 individual theatre, music, dance, multimedia, and performing artists over a two-week period from July 13 to July 26, 2025. With a 40% increase in performances from previous years, the festival is set to make a significant impact on the local arts scene.
New venues have been added for this year’s festival, including a location on Atwells Avenue and an additional stage at 50 Sims. The performances are hosted in various venues around the Valley neighborhood of Providence, with options for online viewing available for those unable to attend in person.
The festival features several community events aimed at engaging audiences and fostering a sense of togetherness. One of the highlights is the Sims Ave Fest + Family Fringe scheduled for July 26. This fun-filled day will include activities for all ages, providing an inclusive environment for families. Additionally, the festival offers the Haus of Codec LGBTQQIA+ Resource Fair & Art Marketplace, where attendees can learn about available resources and support networks within the community.
Activities during the Accessibility is Beautiful Festival included a kids’ corner, a petting zoo, food trucks, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities designed to entertain and educate attendees of all ages. This year’s festival aims to break down barriers and promote greater understanding and support for individuals with disabilities.
The festival officially began with an opening night party named “Let’s Fringe!” on July 13, 2025. As the celebrations continue, the festival is set to conclude with an Artist Award Ceremony and party at Buttonwoods Brewery on July 26 from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM. This event will recognize the outstanding work of participating artists and creators throughout the festival.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the festival, and opportunities are available for individuals interested in helping with various roles. Volunteers not only contribute to the smooth operation of events but also gain valuable experience in the arts community.
FringePVD was founded in 2014 by the Wilbury Theatre Group and has since become recognized as the largest fringe festival in New England. The festival promotes diverse voices and perspectives in the arts, encouraging creativity and collaboration among artists from various backgrounds.
