Providence is gearing up for the 12th Annual FRINGEPVD: The Providence Fringe Festival from July 13 to 26, 2025. The festival is set to showcase over 70 unique performances, taking place at more than ten venues across the Valley Arts District, including popular spots such as 50 Sims, The Steel Yard, and Teatro ECAS. Festival organizers are emphasizing accessibility by also including an online performance series, a feature that gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Festival-goers can currently purchase Fringe Passes through the official website at www.fringepvd.org. The complete performance schedule and details for single ticket sales will be unveiled in the first week of July 2025, ensuring attendees can plan their festival experience accordingly.
The festival will kick off with the “Let’s Fringe!” Opening Night Party on July 13, 2025, at the Wilbury Theatre Group from 6 PM to 8 PM. The event will feature food, drinks, and live music, including a performance by the Rhode Island Ukulele Armada. A notable fundraising event is scheduled for June 15, 2025, at 7 PM, where the 2024 Festival award-winning musical “Bird Jail: A Musical Punishment” by Niki Healy will be showcased.
This year’s festival includes the Sims Ave Fest + Family Fringe, offering free community-centric performances and activities. One of the highlights includes the Haus of Codec LGBTQQIA+ Resource Fair & Art Marketplace, alongside the Accessibility is Beautiful Festival commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Another exciting addition is the inclusion of a new venue on Atwells Avenue, pushing the total performances up by 40%.
The festival will conclude on July 26, 2025, with a Closing Party at Buttonwoods Brewery from 9 PM to 12 AM, featuring the 2025 FRINGEPVD Artist Award Ceremony. Organizers are currently seeking volunteers to assist in various capacities such as house managers, info desk helpers, and wayfinders throughout the festival.
Founded in 2014, FRINGEPVD brings together over 400 individual artists from diverse artistic backgrounds, including theater, music, dance, multimedia, and performing arts. The festival remains dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive arts community in Providence.
Additionally, the Providence area is gearing up for other theatrical events as part of the summer arts scene. “Back to the Future: The Musical” is set to be performed at the Providence Performing Arts Center, and the Contemporary Theater Company will present Michael Frayn’s comedy “Noises Off” during the same summer.
With an extensive lineup of performances and a commitment to community engagement, the upcoming Providence Fringe Festival 2025 promises to be a significant highlight within the region’s cultural calendar.
