Providence, RI – Investigation Underway After Multiple Shootings
The Providence Police Department is currently investigating a series of shooting incidents that occurred on Wednesday evening, resulting in one person injured and another fatally shot. The situation is still developing as police gather information and seek the public’s assistance in the investigations.
In the first incident, a shooting took place on Branch Avenue, where one individual was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Following the shooting, police were seen restricting access to two driveways on the scene and partially blocking a sidewalk as they conducted their investigation.
Meanwhile, a second shooting incident also transpired on the same evening around 7 p.m. in the Chad Brown section of Providence. In this incident, a 29-year-old man was shot on March Street and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital after being transported from the scene. Authorities have not yet released the deceased’s identity and are unsure if he resided in the nearby housing complex or was merely visiting.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this murder investigation, leading police to continue their inquiries. Additionally, around 9:30 p.m. on the same night, a separate shooting was reported in the Wanskuck section of the city, specifically at the intersection of Woodward Road and Branch Avenue.
Police responded to reports of gunfire and promptly found a vehicle that had sustained front-end damage. Inside the vehicle, the driver was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. Reports suggest that the shooting began while the driver and a passenger were in the parking lot of a McDonald’s located on Branch Avenue. The victims indicated that they heard a single gunshot before realizing the driver had been injured.
As they attempted to escape the scene, the driver crashed into an unknown object before stopping on Woodward Road. Fortunately, the driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he is currently in stable condition. This incident also remains under investigation, with police continuing to seek more details.
