Providence and New Bedford are set to host Puzzical Chairs events that combine live music and puzzle-solving. The cities of Providence and New Bedford are set to host innovative community events titled “Puzzical Chairs,” which blend live music with puzzle-solving fun. The Providence event is scheduled for May 18 from 1-3 p.m. at District Park, while the New Bedford event will take place on July 10 from 5-7 p.m. at The Drawing Room.
These events are designed to encourage community involvement, featuring local talent and engaging activities. Attendees will work in pairs to assemble a twenty-four-piece puzzle while enjoying live music, with a twist: when the song changes, participants will switch partners and puzzles, promoting interaction and connection among attendees.
Among the musical acts is the local Middle Eastern blues band, Skyjelly, known for their innovative sound. The events are organized by artists Rani MacNeal and Sarah Jane Lapp, with funding support from 195 District Park, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the New Bedford Cultural Council.
To further draw in attendees, both events will offer free treats for the first 100 participants. In Providence, attendees can enjoy complimentary pocket pies from Scialo’s County Bakery, while those in New Bedford will receive vegan Sorbae popsicles. These incentives aim to enhance the community experience and encourage early registration.
