Cranston, RI – Ann Moccia, a respected matriarch and beloved member of the community, passed away at the age of 95 early Sunday morning after a long battle with dementia. She was the last surviving member of the Moccia family, leaving behind cherished memories for her loved ones and friends.
Born in Providence, RI, Ann was the youngest of seven siblings. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and later became a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. Ann dedicated over 60 years to her faith as a charter member and communicant of Immaculate Conception parish. Throughout her life, she resided in both Cranston and Hope, RI, contributing positively to her community.
Ann’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her son Ken and his wife Alice, who reside in Newport, RI. Her legacy also includes her granddaughter, Brianna, and her daughter-in-law Cindy from Warwick, RI. Ann was predeceased by her husband Leo, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, along with her son Jeff. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Margaretta, and her siblings: John, Ernest, Theresa, Lisa, Mary, and Elena.
Family and friends are invited to honor Ann’s life with a visitation on Thursday, October 30, from 8:00 am until 9:30 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will occur at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church on Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. The burial will then take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to HopeHealth Hospice. Donations can be made online or sent directly to their mailing address.
Ann’s passing is a significant loss to her family, friends, and the community she loved so dearly. Her compassion, strength, and dedication will continue to inspire those who knew her. The details of her life reflect a commitment to family, faith, and community that will be remembered fondly.
