Stamford, Connecticut — Jeffrey R. Caporizzo, affectionately known as “Cap,” passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 55, surrounded by his family. Caporizzo was a father, son, brother, partner, friend, artist, executive, creative director, mentor, and brand storyteller who made significant contributions to the creative industry.
Most recently, he worked as a creative director at ICF Next in the Washington metropolitan area, where he played a pivotal role in numerous marketing and creative projects. Renowned for his distinctive artistic vision, Caporizzo was celebrated for his talent in various forms of art, including painting, drawing, and comic creation.
Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, and raised in Derry, New Hampshire, and Scituate, Rhode Island, Caporizzo graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island, in 1988. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art with a concentration in drawing from Providence College in 1992. Throughout his life, he was deeply rooted in his Italian-American heritage and maintained a close-knit circle of friends known as “The Tank,” who supported each other through thick and thin.
Known for his humor and charisma, Caporizzo valued personal connections and enjoyed hosting family picnics during Labor Day weekends. He expressed that art was essential to his identity, famously stating that if he did not create each day, he felt like a fraud. His passion for creativity began early; in high school, he created a superhero comic series called “The Grapeheads” and went on to work on a multitude of painting projects, ranging from small post-it notes to large canvases. His artwork was featured in exhibitions across major cities, including Boston, New York, and Baltimore.
Among his accomplishments, Caporizzo treasured his role as a father to his son, Joseph Hidalgo Caporizzo. Together, they developed the “3 Rules” that defined their bond: “Like the sun in the sky, you are the most important thing in the world to me,” “Wherever you are is where I want to be,” and “If I ever leave you, I’ll always come back.” These principles showcased Caporizzo’s commitment to his son and family values.
Caporizzo is survived by his son Joseph, who resides in Silver Spring, Maryland; his parents, Robert and Elaine Caporizzo, of Palmyra, Virginia; his sister Maria Caporizzo and her partner Deborah Perry of East Providence, Rhode Island; as well as his girlfriend Jenny Shaffer and her children Jacelyn and Jake Shaffer of Manassas, Virginia.
A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for October 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Stamford, Connecticut. Friends and family are invited to join for a reception following the service to honor Caporizzo’s legacy and impact on their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the Caporizzo family has requested that donations be made in memory of Jeffrey R. Caporizzo to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Montgomery County Parks Foundation, continuing his spirit of generosity and community support.
