Lincoln, Rhode Island – Roger Williams University Architecture Student Paige Moreau Dies Unexpectedly in Italy During Study Abroad Program

Paige Rose Moreau, a 22-year-old architecture student at Roger Williams University, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2023, while participating in a study abroad program in Florence, Italy. Her death was caused by a brain hemorrhage, leading to a profound sense of loss in her community and among her peers.

Originally from Manville, Rhode Island, Moreau was a dedicated member of the Class of 2026 at Roger Williams University. She had consistently achieved academic success, earning spots on the Dean’s List for several semesters, including Spring 2023, Fall 2023, and Fall 2024. Her impressive academic record was complemented by her leadership roles, including being recognized as the Resident Assistant of the Year for her contributions to student life.

Moreau not only excelled academically but also actively participated in various extracurricular activities. She served as a resident assistant and later as the head resident assistant of Willow Hall. In addition, she was involved as an orientation advisor, aiding new students in adapting to college life. Her commitment to enhancing the experience for her fellow students reflected her leadership qualities, which friends and faculty appreciated.

Moreau had also pursued practical experience through an internship at Bisbano + Associates Inc. in Providence, where she honed her skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, and Microsoft applications. Her work in the internship further complemented her academic studies, demonstrating a commitment to building a successful career in architecture.

Her achievements did not begin in college; Moreau graduated from Lincoln High School in 2022, where her leadership roles included being captain of the cheerleading team and participation in track and field. Throughout her high school years, she was actively involved in community service, volunteering for the National Honor Society and the Best Buddies program, which supports students with special needs. Additionally, she worked at the MacColl YMCA, advancing from camp counselor to camp coordinator.

In response to her passing, Roger Williams University released a heartfelt statement expressing deep sorrow over Moreau’s death and reflecting on her positive impact within the university community. Friends and colleagues remembered her as a bright light, known for her kindness, warmth, and laughter, underscoring the ability she had to uplift those around her.

To support her family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe page was established to assist with memorial service expenses. The effort quickly surpassed its initial goal of $7,500, ultimately raising approximately $58,950 by May 6, 2023, with over 969 donations made from supporters who wished to honor Moreau’s legacy and provide aid to her family.

A funeral service in remembrance of Paige Moreau is scheduled for May 10 at Saint James Church in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Prior to the service, visiting hours will be held on May 9 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, allowing friends and family to gather to share their condolences and remember a remarkable individual who left a lasting impression on countless lives.
