Seekonk – On Friday, Seekonk High School celebrated the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2025, marking a significant milestone for 145 graduates. The ceremonies took place on Connolly Field, providing a lively and vibrant atmosphere for the new graduates as they officially transitioned from students to alumni.

As the event commenced, graduates processed onto the football field, accompanied by the classic graduation tune “Pomp and Circumstance,” expertly performed by a member of the school’s band, Edward Elgar. Principal William Whalen led the procession, his presence lending a sense of authority and tradition to the celebration.

The graduates donned light blue robes, a symbol of their collective achievement and a reflection of their school’s colors. Among them, notable participants included Marco Tawadros, who was photographed by Principal Whalen before the ceremonies began. Other graduates featured in photographs included Nick Mihailides, Adrian Connolly, Evan Gendreau, Gavin Reich, and Benjamin Roach, highlighting the diverse group of students who shared this momentous occasion.

The highlight of the ceremony came with the address given by Valedictorian Abigail Visnick. Her speech aimed to inspire her fellow classmates and reflect on their shared experiences, capturing the essence of their journey together throughout high school. The graduation ceremony was not just a celebration of academic success but also an acknowledgment of personal growth and development among the graduates.

Behind the scenes, the excitement and energy of the graduates were palpable as they prepared for the ceremony. Graduates Mia Stafford and Diana Sousa took part in pinning mortarboards, a small yet meaningful tradition that symbolizes the culmination of their hard work. Mariah Jeannotte was seen adjusting her cap, ensuring she was ready for the momentous occasion. Similarly, Greyson Baldizar took the time to adjust cords, signifying honors from several societies, including national, Spanish, and science honor societies. These personal preparations helped set the stage for a memorable ceremony.

Despite the overcast weather leading up to the event, conditions improved significantly by the time commencement started. The sun broke through the clouds, casting a warm glow over Connolly Field and adding to the celebratory atmosphere. This change in weather mirrored the joy and optimism felt by the graduates and their families attending the ceremony.

The event was attended by friends, family, and faculty, all of whom gathered to witness this important rite of passage. The graduation ceremony serves as a landmark occasion, celebrating years of dedication and hard work. Graduates left with their diplomas in hand, excited for the new paths that lie ahead, whether that be college, vocational training, or entering the workforce.

As the Class of 2025 looks to the future, they carry with them not only their academic accomplishments but also the memories formed during their time at Seekonk High School. The celebration on Connolly Field is one of many memories they will cherish as they embark on new adventures in life.

The day was organized with the input of faculty and staff from Seekonk High School, ensuring that each detail was in place for this significant event.
