During a tour of various businesses in North Kingstown on Tuesday, Senator Reed, alongside U.S. Small Business Administration District Director Robert J. Piechota, SBA Regional Administrator Sandra Cano, and North Kingstown Town Manager A. Ralph Mollis, emphasized the importance of small businesses in Rhode Island’s economy. With over 100,000 small businesses operating across the state, these entities play a crucial role in job creation and community development.

Small Business Saturday aims to assist small business owners in attracting more customers during a critical period for retail sales. The holiday shopping showcase, set to take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick on November 30, will feature more than 150 vendors, including local entrepreneurs, artists, and products from Farm Fresh RI and Social Venture Enterprises, with a special focus on veteran and minority-owned businesses.

In addition to the main event, various local happenings will support the Small Business Saturday initiative. The Nathanael Greene Homestead, for example, will offer local authors’ books and artisan goods, along with half-price tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 30. The Long Wharf Mall will also hold its fourth annual tree lighting ceremony featuring Santa Claus from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the same day.

Grant’s Block will host a holiday marketplace with events scheduled for Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 13-15, further promoting local commerce. Additionally, residents in downtown Warren can participate in holiday festivities, which include visits from Santa, craft activities, and caroling on November 29 and 30.
