Trinity Repertory Company has revealed its 62nd season, starting in September 2025, featuring a mix of new plays and holiday classics. Highlights include the world premiere of ‘Cold War Choir Practice’ and a co-directed version of ‘A Christmas Carol’. Other productions include ‘The Roommate’, ‘The Winter’s Tale’, ‘Primary Trust’, and ‘Next to Normal’. Providence, Rhode Island — Trinity Repertory Company has unveiled an exciting lineup for its 62nd season, set to commence in September 2025 and conclude in June 2026. The season will include a five-show subscription series in addition to its traditional holiday production of A Christmas Carol.
Due to ongoing renovations in the upstairs Chace Theater, all performances will be held in the downstairs Dowling Theater. The opener for the season will be the world premiere of Cold War Choir Practice, a play written by Ro Reddick. This production is scheduled to run from September 4 to October 5, 2025, with its official opening night on September 10 at 7:30 p.m. The plot explores a Black family’s unexpected encounters with cults, espionage, and choir practice during the Cold War era.
The highly anticipated holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, will be staged in the Dowling Theater for the first time this season. This version will be co-directed by Richard Jenkins and Sharon Jenkins, running from November 6 to December 31, 2025, with an opening night set for November 12 at 7:30 p.m.
The season will also showcase a rotating repertory featuring The Roommate by Jen Silverman and Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. The Roommate, directed by Curt Columbus, will premiere on February 3 and run until March 22, 2026. Meanwhile, The Winter’s Tale, directed by Ben Steinfeld, will open on February 18, 2026.
Another highlight of the season is Primary Trust, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Eboni Booth, which will run from April 9 to May 10, 2026, with its premiere on April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Closing the season will be the Tony Award-winning rock musical Next to Normal, written by Brian Yorkey, with opening night slated for June 3, running through June 28, 2026.
The 62nd season of the Trinity Repertory Company promises to explore themes of connection, hope, and forgiveness, reflecting contemporary issues that resonate with modern audiences.
