Providence – The Uptown Theater, formerly known as the Columbus Theater, is set to reopen this summer after undergoing extensive renovations that preserved its historic charm while implementing modern upgrades. Located at 270 Broadway, the venue’s owners, Cory Brailsford and David Fiorillo, have completed eight months of restoration work on the nearly century-old building.
Significant renovations to the Uptown Theater include the installation of new lobby bars on both floors, a vibrant interior refresh, and a state-of-the-art roof. Modern enhancements also cover electrical and plumbing systems, updated restrooms, improved air conditioning, and a cutting-edge sound booth. Additionally, the theater features a carefully restored ceiling, new seating throughout the main theater’s first floor, and original balcony seats from the 1920s that have been meticulously restored.
The final touches of the renovation process encompass new carpeting, lighting, and exterior work, completing the transformation of the venue. A smaller upstairs theater has also been finished, expanding the options for programming and events.
Upon its reopening, the Uptown Theater will feature an initial lineup of shows that includes the Soft Opening Concert titled “Soundcheck LIVE,” featuring performances from Northeast Traffic, Jetty, and Z Boys, with the date to be announced. Additionally, the theater will host several comedy shows, including Kevin Nealon on August 14, Anthony Rodia on October 12, and Dan Soder on October 24. Tickets for some of these events are already on sale, while others will be available soon.
The concert schedule includes notable acts such as Ace Frehley on September 5, moe. on September 6, and a special New Year’s Eve show featuring Deer Tick, with tickets for these performances to be released shortly.
To celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of the venue in 2026, the theater is introducing a Golden Pass Giveaway. This initiative will provide ten fans with free admission to all shows during the anniversary year. Furthermore, the newly established Century Club membership offers multiple benefits, including ten bonus entries into the Golden Pass Giveaway, priority access to ticket sales, two entries to shows of choice each year, merchandise discounts, and a 10% discount on bar and concession purchases.
