The VA Providence is currently conducting an ongoing study targeting veterans aged 25 to 65 who are experiencing PTSD or PTSD-like symptoms. Participants in the study will be required to make two visits to the Providence VA, with dates determined by the individuals. Eligible veterans will receive a total of $150 as compensation, which is split into $75 for each visit. This study is designed to advance understanding of how PTSD affects the brain and seeks to improve treatment options for those affected. Clemente Veterans Initiative
Starting September 25, the Clemente Veterans Initiative will offer a free humanities course for veterans from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. 9/11 Remembrance Events on September 11
Marking the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, two key remembrance events will take place:
- Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery: The 13th Annual Remembrance Ceremony will run from 9 to 11 a.m. on September 11, featuring prayers, vocal performances, and readings of the names of Rhode Islanders who perished during the attacks. Operation Stand Down RI’s 33rd Annual Veteran Assistance Event
Scheduled for September 18 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and September 19 (8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) at the Veteran Service Center in Johnston, this event offers vital health, dental, and substance abuse resources for veterans.
